Coy Howard

Coy A. Howard, 88, of North Little Rock died Wednesday, March 14, 2012. He was born to W.L. and Myrtle Howard of the 16th Section Community in Lonoke County. Coy and Dorothy (Skillern) were married July 31, 1949. He is survived by Dorothy; nephews, Ray Jackson (Daisy), Jim Jackson (Jill), Gary Jackson (Lavella); niece, Glenda Malone (Ray); and many great nieces and nephews. We owe a debt of gratitude to Bobby Burden, Coy's caregiver, who so lovingly cared for him for the past three years. Our family is feeling the sadness and emptiness of his passing, but comforted by knowing he is in a better place. During World War II, Coy served his country as a Marine paratrooper and instructor in the South Pacific. Coy has been a member of Sylvan Hills Community Church since 1956. He sang in the choir, served as choir director, Sunday school teacher, church board member and pitched for the men's softball team. Coy's preference was cremation and North Little Rock Funeral Home is assisting with his last wishes. Memorials may be made to Sylvan Hills Community Church, 8015 Sylvan Hills Highway, Sherwood, Arkansas 72120. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Friday at 16th Section Cemetery, Highway 319 in Lonoke County. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home, 758-1170.
