Lillian Louise Price

Lillian Louise Lessel Weathersby Price, age 90, of Houston, Mo. passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2012. She was born on Oct. 30, 1921 at England, Ark. to the late Alvin and Malvern (Hughes) Lessel. Lillian was a 1940 graduate of England High School. She married H. W. "Jack" Weathersby. They first lived El Paso, Texas where they owned and operated five barber shops on Ft. Bliss. Later they moved to North Little Rock, Ark. After Jack's death she married Lawrence W. "Bill" Price. In 2003 she moved to Houston, Mo. to be near her daughter and grandchildren. For the past year she has been a resident of Landmark Villa and Kabul Nursing Home, Cabool, Mo. Lillian grew up on a farm, but she much preferred city life. During WWII she worked for Kaiser Steel testing metals. Briefly she was sales rep for Penny Wise Plastics and then became a seamstress for Ottenheimer Bros. who produced clothing for SEARS. She made watches at US TIMES (Timex), worked for the City of Little Rock and eventually retired from the Mabelline Corporation. Lillian became a Christian in 1955 and joined Grace Baptist Church at the original Second Street (N. L. R.) location. It is believed she had the longest membership on record. After moving to Houston, Lillian's health was fragile and she often needed assistance. Her neighbors Bill and Maudeline Maxwell and Leoma Agee were always there to help and Linda McCrea was a dependable housekeeper. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands; her brother, James Lee Lessel and her sister, Mary Will Chaney. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Beverly and Dr. Gerald St. John of Houston, Mo. and a sister: Nacretia Clawson of Olive Branch, Miss. She is also survived by four grandsons; their wives and five great-grandchildren: Geoffrey St. John (Gina) of Springfield, Missouri; Aaron St. John (Denise) of Licking, Missouri; Preston "Drew" (Megan) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Great-grandchildren: Grace, Josiah, Rebecca, Abbey, and "Charlie" St. John all of Springfield, Mo. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Evans Funeral Home, Houston, Mo. Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Monday, March 19, 2012 at Mulberry Cemetery, England, Arkansas under the direction of Roller England Funeral Home.
