Lawrence John Wewers

Lawrence John Wewers, 94 of Fort Smith passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012. He was born July 7, 1917 in Morrison Bluff to the late John Wewers and Teresa Raible Wewers. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and worked for the City of Fort Smith. He was formerly an Administrator for Crawford County Memorial Hospital. He was also an Air Force Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise G. Wewers. He was also preceded in death by his four sisters: Crescence Geels, Apollonia Siebenmorgen, Magdalene Geels, and Sister Benita Wewers, OSB and his seven brothers: Henry, John, Frank, William, Father Raymond Wewers, OSB, Anton Wewers, and Father Damian Wewers, OSB. Rosary was held 7 p.m., Friday, March 23rd at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m., Saturday, March 24th at St. Boniface Catholic Church with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith. He is survived by three daughters; Becky Johnson of Ft. Smith, Judy Korkames and her husband Joe of Ft. Smith, and Beth Saad and her husband Bruce of Little Rock; two sons: Dr. Mark Wewers and his wife Mary Ellen of Columbus, OH and Daniel Wewers and his wife Kitzel Braatelien of Little Rock; nine grandchildren: Elizabeth Molnar of Cleveland, OH, Daniel Wewers of Boston, Mass., Katherine Wewers of Santa Monica, Calif., Sarah Emeterio of Rogers, Sam Skeen of Fayetteville, Kim Slavens of Fort Smith, Kristen Lipe of Alma, Ruby and Maggie Saad of Little Rock and six great grandchildren: Julia and William Molnar, William and Kate Emeterio, Ethan Lipe, and Vivian Lipe. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in- law, Mary Maestri, Tony and Rosemary Reith, Bob and Mary Reith, Ann Farr, Katie Reith, and Wally Bontemps as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews and caregiver Billie Campbell of Ft. Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Boniface Catholic Church, 1820 North "B" Street Ft.
