John Henry Barrow Jr.

Dr. John Henry Barrow Jr., MD, age 90, of Helena, Ark. passed away the morning of March 22, 2012, having lived a full and happy life. He was a veteran of World War II, married Miss Ole Miss, graduated from University of Arkansas School of Medicine in 1949, did his internship at Tripler General Services Hospital in Honolulu, retired from the Army as a Captain, started practicing medicine in Arkansas in 1950, and retired after 42 years of a distinguished medical practice in Helena-West Helena, Ark. He was an avid sportsman, golfer, hunter, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and husband. He loved a good game of gin and usually took everyone's money. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Barrow "Steamboat,"; his children, John Harley and Karen Barrow, Chris and Glenna Barrow, Rob and Angela Barrow; his grandchildren, Harley and June Barrow, Russ and Darnella Barrow, Christal Barrow and Robyn Barrow; his great-grandchildren, Cole Barrow, Reid Barrow, Peyton Barrow, and Gage Barrow. Dr. B. always said, "I have no regrets, I would not change a single thing about my life." There will be a Wake starting at 5 p.m. at Dr. Barrow's home at 400 Neil Rd., on Saturday, March 24th. Services will be Sunday, March 25, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Helena, Arkansas at 4 p.m. In Lieu of flower the family would like to request donations be made to United Methodist Church of Helena, Arkansas or the Alzheimer's Association. www.alz.org.
