Dorothy Dell Higginbotham

Dorothy Dell Higginbotham, 89, of Parkin, went home to be with the Lord, May 17. She passed away at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Dot Higginbotham. She resided at Three Rivers Nursing Home at Marked Tree, Ark. She was preceded in death by her parents, Birley Len Dowdy and Cordia Iola Worley; husband, James C. Higginbotham; son, James Edward Higginbotham; brother, Jack Dowdy. Dorothy was born in Tusla, Okla. to Birley and Cordia Dowdy. She graduated from Levelland High School in Levelland, Texas in 1941. She was a member of Parkin Baptist church. She enjoyed gospel music, preaching, all activities at the nursing home. She enjoyed all of the visits of her special little friend "Rascal" who loved to visit her at the nursing home. The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff at Three Rivers Nursing Home. Survivors are sons, Larry Gene Higginbotham of Tyronza, Ark.; Billy Wayne Higginbotham of Parkin, Ark.; daughter, Jo Ann Ellison of Knoxville, Tenn.; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. Visitation is Sunday, May 20, 2012, 5 to 7 p.m. at Kernodle Funeral Home.
