Edward Tillman Person

Edward Tillman Person Sr. fighting to the end in that Marine Corp spirit passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Ed was born July 14, 1927 to Robert and Luvenia Joyner Person in Norphet, Arkansas. He joined the United States Marine Corps at the young age of 15, and later retired as First Sergeant from the USMC in 1966 with 24 years of dedicated military service. His campaigns included several Pacific island engagements during WWII followed by several actions during the Korean War. Upon retirement, Ed attended UALR, graduated in 1969 with a Biology and Mathematics degree. Ed then used his experiences and education as an industrial engineer with Teletype (AT&T/Lucent) for 20 years. Upon his second retirement, he enjoyed daily coffee with his friends, playing golf, and going to Marine Corps reunions. He was also gifted such, that if it had an engine, he could fix it. Ed was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Person. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Louise Person, sons, Edward Jr., James, and Donald, grandsons, Matthew and Zachary and granddaughters Hannah and Abbie. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock, Ark.
