Sarah Katherine Henson

Sarah Katherine Poindexter Henson, 89, of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, October 30th, 2012 at her home. She was born January 28th, 1923 in Morrilton, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Jim and Jessie Poindexter. She was a retired educator, having worked for the Pulaski County Special School District as a teacher and counselor for over thirty years. She was a member of Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church for over 63 Years; she remained active in the programs there. Sarah was a longtime member of Phi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and several other education organizations. She was proud to be a member of the Pulaski County Master Gardeners for nearly twenty years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bill Ed Henson. Cherishing her memory are her daughter, Kathy Lyons (Mark) of Little Rock; Grandson, Dan Lyons (Kelly) of Naples, Florida; great-granddaughter, Cleary Rose Lyons; sisters-in-law, Nina Simpson and Rosalyn Halbert; brother-in-law Ronald Henson (Mary Grace); numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends. A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, November 5th, 2012 at Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church in Sherwood, with Rev. Alex Workman officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Griffin Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home.
