Darrell R. "Sam" Smith

Darrell R. "Sam" Smith, age 83, of Perryville, Ark. left this world on Nov. 3, 2012. He was born May 18, 1929, in Wichita, Kan., a son of Ned C. and Julia Adair Smith. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher who enjoyed a hard day's work. He loved his family, his friends, and his neighbors, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He is survived by his longtime loving companion, Pat Selle, of Perryville, Ark., daughters; Marsha Mott (Tony) of Andover, Kan., Judy Smith of Wichita, Kan. and Dode Evans (Greg) of Wichita, Kan.; son Atlas Smith (Cheri) of Perryville, Ark.; sisters, Dixie Allphin, Lova Freeman, and Rena Cole, all of Morrilton, Ark.; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Flora Faye Calvert, wife Wanda Smith, and sister Connie Stull. What we have lost, Heaven has gained. Funeral services will be held at Harmony Baptist Church in the Harmony Community on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 10 a.m. with Bro. Jim Bynum officiating.
