Andrea Kay Anthony McMurrough, 68, of Hope, more fondly known as "Butch", passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born February 2, 1944, in Hope, Arkansas to Horace Anthony and Willie Blanche Henry Anthony. Her unwavering faith in her creator allowed her to grow her faith in both the Baptist and Methodist church as she prepared herself for her journey back home. After graduating from Hope High School in 1962, she married James Michael McMurrough and was blessed with two sons Michael and Mitchell. While raising two sons on her own, Andrea's determination, strong will and dedication to family allowed her to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Science and Education at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. After completing her degree, she moved to Little Rock and worked for many years as an Investigator for the State of Arkansas in the Child Support Enforcement Division. Later, a second marriage to John Slover provided her with the daughter/stepdaughter she longed to have, Jennifer Slover. Andrea is survived by two sons, Michael McMurrough, of North Little Rock, Arkansas, and Mitchell McMurrough of Orlando, Florida; two sisters, Alice Ann Watkins and Carol Robinson, both of Hope, Arkansas; and one grandson, Wesley, son of Mitchell. Her love of mankind and animals led her to do many charitable works for her community and church. Those wishing to carry on her philanthropy may make Memorial Donations in her memory to either: Hope in Action, 606 West 3rd, Hope, Ark. 71801, or the Humane Society of Hempstead County, P.O. Box 1965, Hope, Ark. 71802. An evening Visitation Service will be held on Tuesday, November 6, from 5-7 p.m.. in the Brazzel/Oakcrest Chapel in Hope, Arkansas.
