Edith Lorene Thompson

Edith Lorene Thompson 84, of Conway, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2012. She was born on Monday, September 17, 1928 to the late Jesse W. and Maggie (Johnson) Tompson. Lorene graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College in 1949 and received her master's degree from William and Mary in Williamsburg V.A. She retired from Kansas Social Rehabilitation Service in 1982 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Conway. She is survived by her brother William Thompson and sister Viva Bostic both of Wichita, Kansas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, A.M., Warren and Lewis C. Thompson; sisters, Marie Williams and Carrie Hallums. A private graveside service will be held at McNew Cemetery in Greenbrier. A memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at the First United Methodist Church in Conway with Pastor Michael Roberts officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up in her name at First United Methodist Church.
