James Wilburn, 86, Little Rock, died Saturday, November 3,2012 at the Central Arkansas Veterans Hospital in Little Rock Arkansas following a long illness. Born and raised in Pine Bluff, Ark., to Jake and Annie Mae Wilburn. He was a lifelong resident of Little Rock AR. In his early years, Mr. Wilburn served his country in the United States Army during War World II where he received an honorable discharge. He graduated from Tyler Barber College on December 8, 1948. He retired from Little Rock School District Transportation Department in 1988 where he was employed for 11 years. While employed with LRSD Transportation Department he received numerous Driver of the Year Awards between 1983-1988. During this time he also worked as a master barber for over five decades. He was a member of St. John's Baptist Church under PL Austin for over 33 years. He sang in the Choir and also served as Treasurer for Sunday school. He met his lovely wife Shirley Wesley, at church and they were married in 1990. He leaves to cherish his memory: a lovely wife of 22 years, Shirley (Wesley) Wilburn; son, Rodney Maxwell of San Diego Calif.; step-daughter, Arnell Bryant; grandsons, Michael Dawson of Fort Worth Texas, Andre Pierre Rowell, and Johnathan Mathew Bryant; granddaughter, Dominique Maxwell; a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, and sidekick, Leon Major. Family Hour: 6-7 p.m. Friday at Robinson Mortuary Chapel, LR. Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John Baptist Church, 1920 East 6th Street, Little Rock, Rev. Robinson, officiating.
