Michael Dean Buckingham

Michael Dean Buckingham, age 61, of Alma, departed peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 in Fort Smith. He was born on Aug. 23, 1951 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to Phyllis Conner Buckingham and the late Billy Eugene Buckingham. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving father, a hard worker, and a humble, upstanding citizen of every community he was a part of. Mike was a graduate of Cabot High School and Arkansas State University with a degree in criminology. After a brief career with the Arkansas State Police and Farm Bureau Insurance, he worked in the trucking industry in the field of risk management at ABF Corporation and most recently T.A.W., Inc. He served his community in many capacities, including law enforcement, his church, and the Boy Scouts. He is survived by his daughters Elizabeth Anne Buckingham of Boca Raton, Fla., Sarah Catherine Khan and husband, John of Topeka, Kan., and Emily Caroline Buckingham of Fayetteville, Ark.; a grandson, Bodhi Michael Stone of Boca Raton, Fla.; the mother of his children, Connie Magie Buckingham; mother, Phyllis Conner Buckingham of Cabot; brothers, Steve and wife Terry Buckingham of Cabot and Scott Buckingham of Cabot; five nieces; one nephew; and his sweetheart, Delores Gregory of Alma, Ark. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at Moore's Cabot Funeral home, with burial following in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held 4-6 p.m., Monday, Nov. 12, at Alma Baptist Church. Memorials can be made to Dyer United Methodist Church: P.O. 44 Dyer, Ark., 72935.
