Elzie Jean (Brewer) Mashburn, 83, of Sardis Community, Saline County, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on Monday, November 12, 2012. She was born on March 4, 1929 to the late Sidney and Brunie Mae (Lemons) Brewer in Little Rock. She was a member of the Landmark United Pentecostal Church and also an associate member of the Arkansas-Mississippi Chapter of the 2nd Marine Division Association. She was always there for her family, friends, and her church. She loved to quilt, needlework, sew, garden and worship her savior. Elzie was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Leonard Brewer and her beloved sisters, Edith Mashburn and Letha Mae Crutchfield. She leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Roscoe Mashburn, daughters, Betty (John) Kaucher, Mabelvale, and Sue (Jerry) Cole, Little Rock, son, Ross (Mary) Mashburn, Bryant, brother, Harley Brewer of Little Rock, nine sisters, Lela Benight of NLR, Irma McCrotty of Bryant, Mary Cheatham of Little Rock, Barbara McCrotty of Benton, Joan Reynolds of Little Rock, Helen Weymouth of Little Rock, Sidney Scoles of Bigelow, Carolyn Smith of Little Rock, Brenda Zelda of Lonsdale; seven grandchildren, John Alan Kaucher, Michael Kaucher, Jeff Haney, Jennifer Morgan, Heath Cole, Clint Cole and Jessica Mashburn, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; a host of friends and family. Grandsons serving as pallbearers will be John Alan Kaucher, Michael Kaucher, John Morgan, Nicholas Kaucher, Chris Lepper, Kevin Bradshaw and Jeff Haney. Chapel Services by Ashby Funeral Home will be Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 1 p.m. with Bro. Jim Pelkey and Bro. Jerry Strickland officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery at East End. Visitation will be at Ashbys , Wednesday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the Arkansas Baptist Hospice Staff, DeeDee, Shirley, Flecia and Kelly. Also a very special thanks to all the family and friends that supported us during this difficult time with their presences, prayers, and food.
