Glen Bolden, 87, of Conway, went to be with the Lord November 14, 2012. Glen D. Bolden was born September 27, 1925 to John and Bessie (Barton) Bolden at Tyronza, Ark. Glen was a US Army Veteran who honorably served during WWII. A member of E Company, 349 Infantry, 88 Division, he fought in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater of Operations Italian Campaign. During his active duty as an 88th Division "Blue Devil," he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Battle Stars and the Sharp Shooter Medal. Glen was employed by the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department for 30 years, until retiring in 1985. He was an avid gardener and also enjoyed working on his lawn. He was also active in the Oak Street McDonald's Morning Coffee Club. Glen was a member of Second Baptist Church in Conway, where he attended the Wright Bundrick Men's Sunday School class. Glen is survived by his wife Ollie Vee Bolden; daughters Martha Longing of Conway and Jolynda (Dwight) Davis of Conway; a son, Mark Shaw of Snellville, Ga; a brother, Pete Owens of Fisher, Ark.; sisters, Betty Sue Hinds of Olive Branch, Miss., Barbara Ann Dean of Harrisburg and Mary Jo (Gene) Crouch of Harrisburg; "Papa Glen" was also the proud grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of 12. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Gene and John Mervin Bolden. Funeral Services will be Thursday November 15, 2012 at 3 p.m. at Second Baptist Church in Conway with Dr. Mark Dance and Dr. Stan Young officiating. Pallbearers will be "Papa Glen's" grandsons, Brian "Salty" Longing, Chad Longing, Jon Davis, Chris Jones, John Riewerts and Justin Moore. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Wright Bundrick Men's Sunday School class of Second Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
