Buddy "Shorty" Davis

Buddy "Shorty" Davis, age 83, of Benton, entered the Heavenly City where there is no more pain, sickness or sadness. He received his new body. We rejoice for him, but grieve for our loss. Buddy is preceded in death by his parents, Jones Lee "Duck" Davis and Pearla Mae Oglesby Harris; his siblings, Alta Rudder, Ruth Burford, Thelma "Polly" Ables, Maurice Davis, Coy Davis and Roy Davis and his great-granddaughter, Madison Bailey. Buddy is survived by his wife of 64 years, Hazel Juanita Brown Davis; son, William Earl Davis of Tull; two daughters, Sharon Ann Murray (Gary) of Midlothian, Texas and Emily Jean Boggs (Buford) of Bryant; sisters, Carolyn Davis of Hampton and Jenny Abbott of Coos Bay, Ore.; six grandchildren, Tonya Bailey, Jason Davis, Bethany Notari, Jon Davis, Michael Murray and Weston Davis; seven great-grandchildren, Austin Bailey, Nikoha Derrick, Makayla Notari, Kylie Notari, Cloie Davis, Bella Davis and Madilyn Davis. Buddy has always been a hard worker. He worked at Alcoa for 35 years and retired having only missed three days the entire 35 years. Buddy was also an auxiliary policeman for the Benton Police Department for several years. He worked with his hands making and repairing things. His best friend and great-grandson "Boo" always said, "Papa Guy can fix it. He can fix anything." Buddy was a good provider and loved his family. He worked hard his whole life. His first job was at age 13 at the Niloak Pottery Plant. He never slowed down till now. Death leaves a heartache only God can heal. Love leaves memories no one can steal! Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Chris Bailey, Eric Notari, Jason Davis, Jon Davis, Michael Murray and his nephew from Germany, Roy Davis. Honorary pallbearer will be his great-grandson, Austin Bailey. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19 at Ashby Funeral Home.
