Justice Franklin Warden

Justice Franklin Warden died Nov. 14 of heart complications. He was born in North Little Rock to J.Frank Warden and Della Caple Warden, Nov. 14, 1932. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Frankie Dell Holsted and husband, Leon. He is survived by wife of 58 years, Dorothy Yarnell Warden; daughter, Elizabeth Warden, Dallas and son, Clark, Searcy. He graduated from North Little High, Hendrix College, Vanderbilt School of Law, and Perkins School of Theology. He had an interesting career with Mehaffey, Smith, and Williams, now the Friday Firm then the Lord called and he entered the Methodist ministry in in 1969. He served as minister of evangelism at Highland Park Methodist in Dallas for 13 years. The Warden family returned to Arkansas. He served 16th Section Methodist Church and Ward United Methodist in Lonoke Count for seven years. Searcy became their home and he was an associate at First United Methodist for three years. During this time, he wrote Trinity Bible Studies used throughout the United States, Korea, and Russia. He and Dorothy were guests of Kwang Lim Methodist Church three different years. Not only did they travel to Korea, but England, the Holy Land, Greece, and Europe. He was the guest minister at Waoli Church on the island of Kauai. He taught seminars throughout the states. His most fun was his music. He played the piano, guitar, ukulele, and sang in several men's quartettes. He could never read music, but played and sang by ear. He always had a shop and could repair almost anything. He and Dorothy sang in many groups plus the church choir. They shared so many things. He met her at Hendrix when he stepped on her at a bonfire. From then on their lives were intertwined. His memorial service is Monday, 2 p.m., at First Methodist Church with Rev. David Orr, Rev. Tony Griffin, and Rev. Fred Arnold, an old quartette buddy.
