Military graveside services for Samuel Herbert English Jr., 80, of Longview will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Fairway Garden of Memories in Van, Texas with Rev. Jay Shepherd officiating under the direction of Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road. Mr. English passed away Saturday in a local nursing home in Longview.

Mr. English was born July 30, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri to Samuel Herbert Sr. and Naomi Gash English. He was in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1972, serving in both Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He had been a resident of Longview since 2010 coming from Little Rock, Arkansas. Mr. English was a Methodist, a member of the National Rifle Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Arkansas. He was a self-employed traffic light engineer.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, June English of Longview; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Angela English of Longview; one brother and sister-in-law, William, Sr. and Doris English of Export, Pennsylvania; one niece, Susan Orange and one nephew, William English Jr.

The family requests memorials be made to Highway 80 Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 3223, Longview, Texas 75606. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Welch Funeral Home.
