Jean Wood Swafford, age 83, of Gravelly passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 at Mitchell's Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 26, 1928 in Gravelly, Ark. to the late Alfred Tillman and Lela Matilda Frizzell Wood. She was a retired secretary for Fourche Valley School. She was a lifelong member of Gravelly United Methodist Church, in Gravelly and Henderson United Methodist Church in Little Rock. She was also a 65-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star with Florence Chapter No. 15 and Gravelly Chapter No. 580. Jean served as Grand Warder in 1961 and Grand Representative to Kansas in 1967. She was preceded in death by her husband George S. Swafford and a brother Perry Wood. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Donna Swafford of Carlton, Ore.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lois and Tom Craig of Little Rock, Ann Swafford of Gravelly, Mary and James "Bo" Sale of Bryant; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, 10 a.m. at Gravelly United Methodist Church with Rev. Lacey Minnie officiating. Interment will be Parks Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donald Trampp, Aaron Craig, Steven Craig, Hunter Craig, and Jerad Owens. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
