Glenna (Phillips) Cole

Glenna (Phillips) Cole, 87, Little Rock passed away Monday, Nov 19, 2012. She was born July 13, 1925, Jasper, Ark. to the late Ina (Shinn) & Glen Phillips. She was preceded in death by her husband T.L. Cole. She is survived by a son, Tom; and two grandsons, Thomas (Renee) Cole, Gainesville, Fla. and Robert K. Cole, Little Rock. Also, a sister Joyce Kent, Harrison and nephew, Michael Kent. After graduating Jasper High School, she earned a BSE from Ark State Teachers College (UCA). Thereafter, teaching in Conway, Harrison; then Anthony School in LR for nearly 40 years. She was passionate about teaching her students to read and improve in all areas. She focused on phonics, developing good reading skills, then redeveloping better or missed reading skills. She took great pride in all of her students, especially her Anthony students. Glenna was very proud of her family and its' ties to Newton and Boone counties. She was devoted to her husband, spending  countless hours taking care of "TL." Then, she expended the same love and care for each grandson later in life. The family suggests any memorial to be directed to Pulaski Heights Methodist Church, Little Rock or Young Life of Central Arkansas. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, Nov 30, 2012 at Pulaski Heights Methodist Church.
