Alvin Louis Petter, Jr. 85 of North Little Rock passed away Monday, November 26, 2012. He was born March 2, 1927 to Dr. Alvin L. Petter, Sr. and Marie Grabbe Petter in Stuttgart, Ark. Alvin was quite an adventurer in many ways. One of his great loves was flying and soloed at age 17. He was an expert pilot and owned several different planes. He joined the Navy at the age of 17. He visited Acapulco and Mexico City where he walked to the top of the Pyramids. He also went Para Sailing in the Caribbean and skied at Big Bear in California. He attended schools in Stuttgart and Gulfport Military Academy. He graduated from State Teachers (now UCA). He later taught chemistry, biology and science at Marked Tree, AR. He was a member of EAA for many years and made several lifelong friends there. He was a salesman for Towmotor, John Deere and Ford where he was one of the top salesmen in U.S. He is survived by his wife, Mary of almost 60 years; three daughters, Christie Hunter, Elaine Petter, of North Little Rock, Lisa Dooley of Jonesboro; a son, Alvin Petter III of North Little Rock. He had nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He leaves one brother, Robert Petter (Shirley) of DeValls Bluff ; and Marie Klugh (Dr. Walter) of Hot Springs and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel (501-791-7400). Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
