Larry Gwyn, age 65, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the St. Bernard Medical Center in Jonesboro. A son of the late Lawrence and "Babe" Gwyn of Brinkley, Larry was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas on June 25, 1947. He was united in marriage to Karen Jelks on June 14, 1970 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas.
Larry was a 1965 graduate of Brinkley High School and a member of the Forrest City First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He attended ASU for three years, served as Arkansas State Police Chief Tele-Communications officer for 30 years and also as a security guard for the Forrest City Public School Systems for 14 years. Larry was a past president of the Forrest City Mustang Booster Club .
Larry is survived by his wife Karen Jelks Gwyn of Forrest City, three sons, James Gwyn and wife Dana of Wynne, Michael Gwyn of Forrest City, Christopher Gwyn and wife Teddy of Lavergne, Tenn. and five grandchildren.
Visitation with family and friends will be 6:00-8:00PM, Thursday at Forrest City First Baptist Church. Services will be 10 a.m., Friday at Forrest City First Baptist Church with Dr. Gene Crawley officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Park Cemetery by Bob Neal & Sons Funeral Home of Brinkley.
