Dana Bruce Mayo, loving husband, father, grandfather, and son passed away Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the age of 60. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 32 years, Deborah Webb Mayo; his children, Philip (and Kristin) Mayo and Matthew Mayo; his grandson, Maxwell Mayo; his parents, Harold L. and Willie (Woody) Mayo; his brothers and sisters, Linda (and Ken) Bowen, Robert (and Mary) Mayo, Karen Mayo, Jo (and Matt) Spencer, and James (and Samantha) Mayo; his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Bruce was born in Omaha, Nebraska on April 14, 1952. At the age of 20, Bruce joined the United States Air Force. He proudly served our country from February 1973 until August of 1978 and achieved the rank of Sergeant. After completing his military service, he worked as a Biomedical and X-ray Service Engineer. He had a love for boating, skiing, flying, hang gliding as well as spending time with family and friends. Bruce was a caring, generous, and friendly man that was loved by all. He often had many stories to share and enjoyed the company of others. Bruce will be missed greatly and the memories of his life will forever be cherished. A memorial gathering will be held to celebrate his life on Thursday, October 4 in the Auditorium Room at Missouri Baptist Hospital from 10-2 p.m.; the memorial service will start at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Deborah Mayo Benefit Fund at any U.S. Bank branch.
