Reba Ora Thornton passed from this life on Monday, October 8, 2012 at the age of 87 years. Reba was born to James Monroe Thornton and Erma (Gunter) Thornton in Little Rock but spent most of her young years in Hot Springs, graduating from Fountain Lake High School. Soon after graduating she went to work for the Army-Navy Hospital in Hot Springs and worked there until its closing and then moved to Jacksonville Arkansas and went to work for the civil services in the Military Finance Department at the Little Rock Air Force Base until her retirement in 1990. Reba was a lifelong Methodist, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville. Reba was a member of the National Association of Retired Employees and a Lady Auxiliary of her church for many years. Reba was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by several cousins and a host of lady friends. Reba loved to read and was an avid reader of historical books. She was loved by all who met her. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday October 11, 2012, with visitation preceding the funeral at 10 a.m., at First United Methodist Church on Main Street in Jacksonville, interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Hot Springs. Arrangements are with Griffin Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville.
