Samuel Lee Dallas Sr., of Independence, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, after a long illness. He was 91 years of age, two months short of his 92 birthday. He was a former Marine who fought in the Pacific during World War II, after which he went into accounting, eventually becoming a manager with the Federal Aviation Administration. Sam was active in his church in Oklahoma City and served in many leadership positions at Western Hills Baptist Church. He and his wife Millie moved to the Kansas City-Independence area to further his career with the FAA in 1975. He retired in 1982 after almost 30 years of exemplary employment. He leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Millie; a son, Sam Jr.; two grandsons, Sam III and Kyle; and a great-granddaughter, Harlee. He will be greatly missed and remembered whole-heartedly as a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and, most of all, a dependable, trustworthy friend who never failed to be kind and helpful to everyone he came in contact with, all to the Glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed and remembered with a smile by all who loved him. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, (501) 224-8300. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Alexander, Ark., with Sam Dallas III officiating. Online guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/chenal.
