Verda McElroy George, 76, of Sheridan passed away Monday, October 29, 2012. She was formerly a co-owner of McElroy's Garage in Sheridan, co-founder of McElroy's Hunting Club and a member of Forest Tower Baptist Church. Verda loved hunting, fishing, camping and crocheting, but mostly loved being with her children, grandchildren and family. "MamMawMac" instilled love in her children and grandchildren and always ended the conversation with "I Love You" or "Ditto." She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Paula McElroy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Audrey and Clay Smith and Jackie and Michael Skorcz, all of Sheridan; daughter-in-law, Wanda Scates Andrews, of Little Rock; brother, Carl Hardwick (Ruby) of Little Rock; twenty grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Gerald Scates, A.R. "Pete" McElroy and Van George; two sons, Jerry and Johnny Scates; daughter, Nancy Corbishley; three brothers and two sisters. The children wish to extend a special thanks to her caregiver, Brittany. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday at Forest Tower Baptist Church. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery.
