Charles "Dana" Gibson, 82 of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away Monday, September 3rd, 2012. He was born November 28th, 1929 in Little Rock to Charles Dana and Mary Margaret Daly Gibson. Dana studied Journalism and Marketing at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He worked as a writer at two radio stations and edited a weekly newspaper in east Texas. This led to jobs with the advertising and public relations department of Lion Oil Company in El Dorado. He went to work for Arkla Air Conditioning Company, a division of Arkansas Louisiana Gas. He retired after 20 years. Later he worked for AETN as a public information officer. In 1952 he married Ruth Ayline Johnson, just after they both graduated from the University of Arkansas. In 1960 they bought a house in North Little Rock, where Dana served as a Trustee at Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church and Sunday school teacher. Dana traveled extensively, and especially enjoyed retracing Pauls's journeys by land and sea. Dana was an avid coin collector, and had a passion for Jazz music. He found Meals on Wheels ministry very fulfilling. Cherishing his memory are his wife of 60 years, Ruth Gibson; four daughters, Lynn Capp (Kim), Melanie Ocasio (Mike), Elaine Burton (David) and Mary McFadden; grandchildren, Christopher James Mitchell, Stephanie Marie Newman (Nick), Mike Helmbeck, Matt Ocasio (Twila), Sarah Adams (Mike), Christophe Block, Peter Block, Joseph Block, Mary Margaret Block, John Ryan Block, Jennifer Aul (Rick), and Joshua McFadden; 12 great-grandchildren; host of special friends and other relatives. A celebration of Dana's life will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 6th, 2012 at Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church in Sherwood, with Revs. Dr. Beverly Watkins and Alex Workman officiating.
