Fanny Blanche Compton George

A beautiful soul has soared to heaven! Fanny Blanche Compton George, known as Miss Fanny to most of Yell County, died on September 2, 2012 in her home at 99 years young. She was born May 6, 1913 in Gravelly, Ark. and lived in Wing, Arkansas until she moved to Danville, finished high school and lived her life. She married C.R. (Babe) George, an attorney, on March 27, 1932, and they shared a wonderful life. Their two children survive, Jan George Richison and Dr. Lary Compton & Phyllis George. Other survivors are five grandchildren, Debra Richison Stuckey, Frances Richison Eubanks, Dr. George Charles Richison, Dr. Lary Compton Jr., and JanAnn George Harmon, 12 great-grandchildren, Anna Newby, Wil Stuckey, Rachel Slaton, Will Eubanks, Helen Bartel, Janette Eubanks, Sarah, Katherine, and Emily Richison, Mariah Ward, Allyson George, & Hannah Harmon, eight great-great grandchildren, her nephew, Bood Keathley, and many beloved great nieces, nephews, and cousins. Fanny was generously involved in her community, loved her Methodist Church, and was a patriot's patriot. In 2006, she was Danville's "Citizen of the Year". For 26 years, she was Grand Marshall of the Yell County Fair Parade, leading the parade on horseback. Last year, at the age of 98! she led the parade for the last time. She was preceded by her parents, Buford and Jap Compton, her husband, CR (Babe) George, sister, Mary Nell Keathley Lewis, and her son-in-law, Charles E. Richison. All of her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and first cousins also preceded her. Fanny lived a full life in her home with the open door. She loved Nature and Nature's God. Fanny cherished her past, did not fear the future, and joyfully seized the present. It was wonderful to be loved by her! Both the visitation (Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m.) and the services (Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at 2 p.m.) will be held at the Danville Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Danville United Methodist Church.
