Irvin Shelby Jr., born April 18, 1924 in De Queen, Arkansas, passed away at home on September 5, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Shelby Sr., one sister, Evelyn Draper, and one brother, Gerald Shelby. Mr. Shelby is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ova Lee Shelby, one brother; Rev. Jimmy Shelby, two sisters; Marie Dunn and Merl Jean Gaines, one daughter; Dolores Treadway and husband Dennis, grandsons; Matt Rogers and wife Suzanne, Grant Rogers, and great-grandchildren; Rayleigh and Gavin Rogers. Mr. Shelby was a World War II Navy Veteran. He was a cattleman who never really retired. Mr. Shelby spent many hours happily working with his cattle and helping anybody who needed it whenever they asked. He was a founding member of the Brumley Baptist Church and New Hope Baptist Church. Mr. Shelby taught Sunday School for 65 years and was an ordained Baptist Deacon for 65 years. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church in Conway on Hwy. 64 with burial to follow at Quattlebaum Cemetery in Bee Branch, Ark. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 7 at the Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway from 6-8 p.m. Memorials maybe made to New Hope Baptist Church of Conway.
