Ruby Sales Rayder

Ruby Sales Rayder, age 83, of Lake Village, died Sunday, September 2, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She was born October 29, 1928, in Leachville, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Lee Olen Sales and Evelyn Gatlin Sales and was a retired nutrition aide for Chicot County Extension Service. Following retirement, she was still involved in the Extension Service and the Chicot County Fair for many years. In 2008, she received the Governor's Award in Folk Art for her tatting skills, an art she taught in the Lake Village area for the past several years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Layne Rayder and by a grandson, Kenneth Hubbard. She is survived by two sons, Tom Lee Rayder of Lake Village and Michael Rayder (Kim) of Memphis, Tennessee; four daughters, Ardith Hubbard of Searcy, Jo Ann Okerson (John) of Memphis, Tennessee, Kathi Mazzanti (Robert) of Jackson, Missouri and Nancy Smith (Pete) of Glen Allan, Mississippi; a brother, Allen Sales of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Mattie Hamlin of DeBary, Florida; nine grandchildren, Mike Mazzanti (Kirsten) Kathy Miller (Tommy), Becca Buchheit, Lauren Brown, Aly Smith, Harrison Brown, Bryce Rayder, Emily Rayder and Lilly Rayder; four great-grandchildren, Naomi Miller, Anna Miller, Tormey McManaman and Elise Buchheit, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2012, with Funeral Services following at 2 p.m. at Chicot Baptist Church with Rev. David Powers officiating Burial will be in Lake Village Cemetery under the direction of Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village.
