Betty Jean Pratt was born Betty Jean Green to Loyd and Ella Wheeler Lynch April 14, 1936, in Heber Springs, Ark. Betty moved at age 4 after her mother's passing to Ft. Worth, Texas, to be raised by her grandmother Sarah Lynch Gilmore. She attended Texas Wesleyan University and was a dental assistant, then a flight attendant for Central Airlines where she met and married Leonard V. Pratt. They had two sons: Landon John Pratt II and Leonard Michael Pratt. After her husband Leonard retired, they sailed their yacht, the "Betty J.," around the world. After that four year adventure, she and Leonard both earned 100 ton captain licenses and worked on supply ships in the Gulf of Mexico. Later in Heber Springs, she worked for H and R Block for several tax seasons. She truly was the anchor of her family, and we are eternally grateful to have had her in our lives. She passed away Aug. 26, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard and son, Landon and her brother, Buddy Green. She is survived by her son, Michael and sister, Mary Lee May, as well as her grandchildren, Donnie Pratt and Sara Adams, two great-grandchildren, and six nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. Rest in peace, Mom. We all love you. Memorial service to be held Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs.
