Virginia Dale Corbell Tyndall, 78, of Jenks, Okla. died Saturday, Sept. 8 at Tulsa, Okla. She was born August 26, l934, at Nashville, Ark. to Arthur and Mabel (Funderburk) Corbell, who are deceased. Survivors are her husband, John N. Tyndall of Jenks, Okla.; son, Arthur R. Tyndall (Teresa) of Jenks; son, Dr. Phillip A. Tyndall (Nancy) of Ponca City, Okla.; sister Marjorie Whitmore (Perry) of North Little Rock; sister Betty Smith (Louis) of Nashville. She also is survived by grandchildren, Stephen, Trent, and Brett of Jenks; Sydney and Ryleah of Ponca City. She married her high school sweetheart John and celebrated 56 years of marriage in May 2012. A graduate of Nashville High School in 1952, she attended Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA) and graduated in 1959 from University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. She started her teaching career in Nashville in l954, taught at Fayetteville in 1959 and retired in l986 after teaching 25 years in Jenks Public Schools. She served as president of the Jenks Classroom Teachers; president of Alpha Delta Kappa and Kappa Kappa Iota; chairperson of the Jenks Middle School English Department and member of the Professional Accountability Committee of the American Association of University Women. Other activities and interests included Tulsa Opera Guild, where she served as VP of Education and Bridge Marathon Chair, reading and enjoying her five grandchildren. The service to celebrate Virginia's life will be at 2 p.m., Friday at First Christian Church of Jenks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
