Theodore Roth Smith

Theodore Roth Smith, 88, passed away on September 19, 2012 at his home in Hot Springs Village. Ted was born in Superior, Wisconsin in 1924, the son of Neil Smith and Eda Roth Smith. In 1943 he married Lucy August, his high school sweetheart. He was a B-24 pilot during World War II, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross (he always claimed there were others more deserving of the award). He was President of Roth Bros. Department Store in Superior. Ted and Lucy spent half of each year at their home in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas where they are members of Village Bible Church. They spent every summer at their home on Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin, where they attended Mount of Olives Baptist Church in Duluth. Ted is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lucy; five children: Ted Smith, Carolyn Hudson (Hal), David Smith (Linda), Victor Smith (Phyllis), Patricia Daily (Douglas); 13 grandchildren: Zach Smith (Mila), Andy Hudson (Amy), Nathan Hudson (Jessika), Erin Hudson Schalk (Louis), Dena Bohiem (RC), Eric Smith (Andrea), Nicholas Smith (Christina), Andrew Smith (Diana), Jaime Smith (Tony Sanny), Ben Smith (Jessica), Joshua Daily (Sonja), Daniel Daily (Callae), and Laura Daily; 15 great-grandchildren: Jack Hudson, Ally Hudson, Reed Hudson, Arren Hudson, Mia Boheim, Natalie Boheim, Gianna Boheim, Kellen Smith, Brynn Smith, Emelia Smith, Oliver Smith, Anthony Smith, Leonora Smith-Sanny, Avery Smith-Sanny, William Daily and two more expected soon; and his sister Maryeda Bower. He was predeceased by his parents in 1969 and his sister, Barbara, in 1999. Funeral services 2 p.m., September 21, 2012 at Village Bible Church. Interment will be at the Lake Nebagamon Cemetery.
