Ira Lee Southerland

Ira Lee Southerland, 85, of Jacksonville went to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Ira was born in Jacksonville to the late Joseph Marion and Hazel Hall Southerland. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers. Ira was a member of Bible Missionary Baptist Church. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and member of the American Legion. Ira retired as Sales Rep for commercial equipment. Ira enjoyed fishing and John Deere tractors. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn McNew Southerland; two sons, Tim Southerland (Susan) of Cabot and Tony Southerland of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Ryan Southerland, Kimberlee Pelkey and Aronel Presley; great-grandchildren, Gauge, Jackson, and Emily; sister, Janice Clark of Jacksonville; his brother, Leon Southerland of Jacksonville and a host of other family and friends. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Bible Missionary Baptist Church, 3001 Military Rd., Jacksonville, Ark. 72076 with Reverend Greg Dowd officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, September 28, 2012 at Moore's Funeral Home, 1504 Loop Rd. Jacksonville, Ark. 72076 (501-982-2136). Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery. Arrangements made by Roller-Owens Funeral Home (501-791-7400). The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Arkansas Cancer Research Center, Slot 623, 4301 W.
