Letty Ethelyn Jones DuVall, 92, of Russellville, Ark., died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 in Russellville, Ark. The daughter of Elias Richard and Louann Rackley Jones, she was born April 24th, 1920 on Crow Mountain in the Mars Hill Community. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Leland DuVall, her parents, three brothers, and eight sisters. Survivors include two daughters Brenda DuVall of Ft. Smith and Connie Tisdale (Fred) of North Little Rock; one granddaughter Trina Christensen (Eric) of St. Louis, Mo.; two grandsons Shane Stephens (Ashley) of Spring Hill, Tenn. and Scott Stephens (Kimberly) North Little Rock three great-grandchildren Landon, Tyler, and Elise Stephens. Letty married Leland in 1945 two weeks after he returned from World War II, where he had fought in five theaters of war. During this trying time he wrote Letty over 400 letters. In 2011 the letters were published by the U.A. press in the book "Dearest Letty". She was a member of the Mars Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church except for the 35 years she and Leland lived in North Little Rock. While living there she was a member of the Rose City Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was active in the Women's Missionary Organization and was presented a denominational award of life membership, a perpetual membership and a patron membership. She was a dedicated housewife but made time for her hobbies of painting, crocheting, knitting and gardening. Her humerous and friendly disposition endeared her to many people. She loved everyone but hated no one. Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 5, 2013 at Humphrey Chapel. Reverend Jo Warren and Ernie Dumas will officiate. Burial will be at Bowden Cemetery in Pottsville, Ark. by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Thursday, at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Jones, Bob Reed, Randy Clark, Nathan Clark, Jason Owens and Bill Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Martin, George Jones and Pete Norris. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Mars Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church, c/o Gary Thompson, 172 Thompson Lane Pottsville, Ark. 72858 and Bowden Cemetery, c/o Martha Jones, 261 Bowden Cemetery, Road Pottsville, Ark. 72858.
