Othel Edwin Brown

Othal Edwin Brown, 83, of Marshall died Friday, April 5, 2013. He was born July 2, 1929 in Pleasant Plains to the late Joseph Henry and Lula Bessie McMullen Brown. Mr. Brown served his country in the Air Force as a medic for over 20 years. He served in Korea during the Korean War and was stationed at Clark Air Base in the Philippines during Vietnam where many service men and women were evacuated to for medical care. He was also part of a rescue mission following a typhoon in the Philippines where his medical training was invaluable. He continued his medical career serving as an area manager for Arkansas Children's Hospital until his retirement. Mr. Brown enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to talk to people he met. He was a loving husband and father. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his first wife, Anita Borden Brown; one brother, Henry Brown; and two sisters, Dovie Martin and Valeta Fletcher. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Betty Brown of Marshall; three daughters, Kathy Holmes and her husband, Aubrey of Raleigh, N.C., Lisa Brown of Letona and Karen House of Searcy as well as three granddaughters, Ashley Holmes, Mikayla House and Briley House. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 with funeral services beginning at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home.
