Carole Coe Carroll

Carole Coe Carroll, of Little Rock, died at her residence on Friday, April 5, 2013. She was born to Doris and Leonard Coe on February 6, 1939. She lived in Little Rock most of her life but her family did move to Denver, CO and Dallas, Texas for several years. She attended Kent Girls School. She earned a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Barbara Stanley, and the love her life, her son, Coe. In Little Rock, she was a member of the Arkansas Children's Hospital Auxiliary. Much of her life was working with children. She was employed for several years at the Cathedral School as an instructional aide. She worked for 22 years at Rockefeller Elementary School tutoring students in reading, writing and math. At Rockefeller, she volunteered to take on the job of purchasing and selling supplies to the students. She was known to frequently pay for supplies herself to give to students who had no money. She would tell them that the bookstore was having a sale and give them the needed supplies. She was a member of the Parent Teachers' Association After retirement, Carole enjoyed being with many friends and belonged to a monthly dinner group that called themselves the Ditzy Chicks. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her sister, Jenny (Nate) Steppach of Memphis, Tenn., brother, Gary Coe (Elieen) of Rogers, Ark., granddaughter, Samantha Carroll of Hernando, Miss., along with nieces and nephews, Stephanie Ahlgrim, Craig and Trey Steppach, Caroline, Laura and Stephen Stanley. She leaves to a special friend, Jeannine Phelps, her beloved cat, Smudge. The family would like to thank Shawnda's Elderly Care for their loving attention during her illness. She was happy and comfortable in their care. Visitation with the family will be at Ruebel Funeral Home on Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn Rd., Little Rock, Ark. 72210.
