Donnie Vee Ashley, age 86, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013. She was born to the late Dr. and Mrs. Robert Buckmaster of Pangburn, Ark. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Dr. William Earl Ashley, beloved son, James Earl Ashley; five grandchildren, Brick and Brandi, Jeffrey & Christopher Petroff, and Aaron Ashley; three sisters, Ida Buckmaster, Bernadine Andrews and Alene Hobby, and 4 brothers, Clarence, Alvin, Glenn, and Clyde Buckmaster. Donnie leaves to cherish her memory children, William Glenn Ashley and wife, Alyssa, Stephanie Lynn Afshar and husband, Denis, and Deborah Ashley-Petroff and husband, Dr. Dennis Petroff. A graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Okla., Mrs. Ashley worked with the special needs of children as an educator. Donnie Ashley served her Lord Jesus Christ through her ministry as a pianist/organist, vocalist, WMU Director, GA' s Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director, VBS Teacher, secretary, administrative assistant, counselor to many and friend to all; in other words A Minister's Wife. She was active in Home & Foreign Missions and was devoted to her church, family and community. She was a member of Eastern Star. She used all her many talents to serve her Lord Jesus Christ. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great¬grandmother, aunt and friend. Mrs. Ashley' s legacy will not only continue through her children but also her grandchildren: Angela Ramairez, Jason Jones, Kathryn Anglin, Jennifer, Lauren, Kevin, and Eric Petroff, Daren and Ryan Afshar, Vanessa Marijosius, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was also a loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ashley was loved by her extended families and friends. Visitation Services will held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Griffin Leggett-Forest Hills Funeral Home located at 10200 Hwy. 5 N Alexander, Ark. Funeral Services will held at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home Chapel, 2 p.m. Friday, April 12, 2013. Graveside services will follow at Pine Crest Memorial Park. The Rev. Frank Thurman will officiate at the Services. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or to your local church.
