Thomas Leland Murphy

Thomas Leland Murphy, beloved son, brother, nephew and cousin, 29, died at Little Rock on April 15, 2013. Thomas was born August 27, 1983 in Washington, D.C. He is survived by his mother, Katherine M. Downie of Little Rock, his father, Robin Murphy, his stepmother Mary Claire Murphy, and two sisters, Mary Carleton and Ginnie Murphy all of Alexandria, Virginia. Thomas was predeceased by his grandparents, Thomas E. Downie and Katherine F. Downie of Little Rock and his grandparents, Robert Murphy and Ginnie Murphy of Essex, Connecticut. Thomas is survived by his aunts and uncles, Helen and Fred Harrison of Little Rock, Anne and David Huard of Los Angeles, and Megan Murphy of Los Angeles. He is also survived by his first cousins, Katherine H. Wyrick (Charles), and their children, Harrison, Helen and Silas of Little Rock, Patrick Huard of Oakland, Megan Voyle, Michael Huard, and Alexandra Hudson, all of Los Angeles. Thomas attended Hendrix College and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and was looking forward to graduating in May. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. His interests included family, film and dogs. Thomas will be remembered for his kindness, generosity and for his offbeat sense of humor. A celebration of Thomas' life will be held at Second Presbyterian Church on April 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to Second Presbyterian Church, The Psychiatric Research Institute at UAMS, or to a favorite charity.
