Joseph B. Stewart, age 91 of Gravette, Arkansas and formerly of Pine bluff, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas. Joseph was born in Swifton, Arkansas on June 11, 1921 to Marion and Rebeccie (Sudduth) Stewart. Joseph served his country in the United States Army during WWII where he participated in four battle campaigns and was wounded in Italy and received the Purple Heart. On March 31, 1961 he married Marjorie Edwards in Hot Springs, Arkansas and they were married for over 52 years before his death. Joseph was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Gravette and he worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for many years as a Brakeman and Conductor. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Purple Heart, American Legion, Gideon's, United Transportation Union (UTU), and he was also a member of the Central Bible College of Springfield, Missouri Alumni. Joseph enjoyed watching westerns and football, drinking coffee at Wal-Mart, raising German Sheperds, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Joseph was the last of 10 brothers and sisters and he is preceded in death by his birth parents and at the age of 14 he was orphaned and taken in by the McPherson family and is preceded in death by members of the McPhersons; Joseph is survived by his wife Marjorie Stewart of the home; two sons, Jeff Stewart of Coal Hill, Arkansas; Joe Stewart and wife Malinda of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; three McPherson family siblings, Sonny, Eugene, and Tillie; five grandchildren, Dylan, Eli, Sara Beth, Jonas, and Seth; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 from 6 pm to 9 p.m. at Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home (3800 West Walnut) in Rogers, Arkansas. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the First Assembly of God Church in Gravette, Arkansas. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at the Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas with Military Honors.
