Billy Joe Mitchell

Billy Joe Mitchell Sr., age 82 of Fordyce, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Dallas County Medical Center in Fordyce. He was born November 22, 1930 in Kingsland, Arkansas. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Fordyce and was a retired truck driver. He is preceded in death by his parents, T.O. Mitchell and Florence McMurtrey Mitchell; one brother, Bob Mitchell and three sisters, Dorothy Sue Weeks, Ruby King and Janette Mitchell. He is survived by four sons, Ronnie Mitchell of Chattanooga, Tenn., Jim Mitchell of Bearden, Billy Joe Mitchell Jr. of Sheridan and Jason Mitchell of Fordyce; two daughters, Sonya Ann Launius of Bearden, Rhonda Thompson of Rison; two brothers, Thomas Mitchell of Kingsland, Harold Mitchell of Pine Bluff; three sisters, Margaret Clemons of Tyler, Texas, Linda Jones of Kingsland, Kathy Harris of Watson Chapel; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Kingsland Cemetery with Rev. Marvin Launius officiating.
