Macon Daniel Edwards

Macon Daniel Edwards, 67, of Cabot, died Monday, April 22, 2013. He was born July 11, 1945, a twin, and was the first set of twins to be born at the hospital in Harrison. He was one of four children born to the late Daniel Richmond and Mary Elizabeth Haynie Edwards. Macon was a 1963 graduate of Lake Hamilton School in Percy, and received his BS degree in Natural Science and Entomology from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1967. In August of 1966, he married the first and only love of his life, Dorothy "Bobbye" Jean Edwards. He joined the United States Army in 1968 and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas for two years, where he taught high school chemistry. In 1972, he received his Masters in Education and Biology from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Macon then began a doctoral program and moved to Fort Worth, where he taught Science and Math at Arlington Baptist College from 1972-1976. In 1973 his daughter, Tawnya was born and in 1976, his son Jason was born. The family moved to Corsicana, Texas in 1979, where he taught Biology and Computer Science at Navarro College for three years. In 1982, they moved to Beebe, where Macon taught Computer Science, Math and Science until he became the Director of Institutional Research to finish out his career. He retired in 2006 to enjoy life. Macon was a dedicated and loving husband, father, brother and friend, always putting God and family first. He loved music, traveling, gardening, hiking, canoeing, his fish and his sweet dog, Princess. Macon is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Dorothy Jean "Bobbye" Edwards of Cabot; his daughter, Tawnya Edwards of Sherwood; his son Jason Daniel Edwards of Fayetteville; his twin brother, Richmond Edwards and his wife, Zelda of Hot Springs; his sister, Mary Lois Lynch and her husband, Eddie of Royal; and brother, Jefferson Edwards and his wife, Susan of Cypress, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews and numerous friends. Memorial services were held Wednesday, April 24, 2013 in the chapel of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home, (501) 843-5816.
