Frederick H. Gutekunst Sr.

Frederick H. Gutekunst Sr., age 74, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., (formerly of Silver Creek, N.Y. and Little Rock, Ark.) died unexpectedly Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Waccamaw Community Hospital. Born in Queens, N.Y., he was the son of the late Frederick and Eleanor (Neibling) Gutekunst. He graduated from the public school systems of Long Island, N.Y., SUNY at Fredonia, and Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary. Fred was a music and social studies teacher in the Clymer School District of New York and a Lutheran Minister in Buffalo, N.Y. and Little Rock, Ark. He was an avid golfer and woodcrafter. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Frederick and Eleanor (Neibling) Gutekunst; first wife, Virginia (Kelly) Gutekunst; a brother, Kenneth Gutekunst; his step-mother, Doris (Boch) Gutekunst. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Gutekunst; children, Sharon (Joseph) Krupa of Cassadaga, N.Y., Kim (James) Castiglia of Silver Creek, N.Y., Karyn Pryll of Silver Creek, N.Y., Frederick H. (Lorie) Gutekunst Jr. of Lonoke, Ark., Heidi Niswander of North Little Rock, Ark.; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and his siblings: sisters, Susan (Richard) Kostynick of Detroit Lake, Minn., Nancy (David) McClure of Pinelles Park, Fla.; a brother, Richard (Nyla) Gutekunst of Humble, Texas and many nieces and nephews.
