Charles Ray Massey, Sr., 86, went to heaven on Tuesday, July 30. He was born in Landis, Arkansas on June 24, 1927 to Hugh and Sybil Massey. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Hugh Jr., and a sister, Jolene Drewry. Charles spent his career in food sales, working for Ruffs Grocery in Marshall, Safeway in Kansas, and Borden Foods in Little Rock. After that, he worked for Cabot Public Schools for 16 years driving a school bus and helping the school district and community whenever he could. When he finally retired from working, he enjoyed morning coffee and breakfast with friends and family at several local diners. He loved to hunt & fish and enjoyed camping & four-wheeling with his family. He was a deacon at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Cabot. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 65 years, Rachel Louise (Lockerby) Massey. Other survivors include his daughter Debbie (Frank) Pullen of Roland; son Chuck (Joyce) Massey of Austin; brother Marcus Massey of Vilonia; sister Ilona Steen of Marshall; four granddaughters, three grandsons, three great-grandchildren, and his baby dog, Princess. Visitation is Friday, August 2 from 5-7 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Cabot. Funeral services are Saturday, 10 a.m. in the same location.
