Aulton D. Ball

Aulton D. Ball, 72, a Believer of Christ, passed away Saturday morning at his home in Little Rock, Arkansas. Aulton, who was born in Danville, grew up in Little Rock and graduated high school from Wolf Tech before enlisting in the Army (Corps of Engineers) as a combat engineer. He spent the majority of his Army service in Germany building bridges and demolition. Aulton was a steadfast/ hard working man who started his working life throwing newspapers as a preteen. He was a printer at Hoerner Box Company when he received the call to service as a firefighter from the Little Rock Fire Department. He served the citizens of Little Rock proudly for 22 years before retiring at the rank of Captain. Aulton served another 20 years with the Secretary of State's Office in Grounds Maintenance. Although he performed various assignments at the State Capitol-the cap of his career was having the honor of serving as a Sgt. at Arms in the 2013 Session of the Arkansas House of Representatives-he was most proud of the lawns and rose gardens he maintained on the Capitol grounds. Aulton was a self educated man and shared with those around him his wit, sense of humor and entertained all with his practical jokes. He was an accomplished performance water skier, a lifetime member of the American Water Ski Association, as well a lifetime member of the American Water Ski Association's Barefoot Club as a rated barefoot water skier. As a younger man, he performed "Shows, Thrills, Spills, Chills" at water ski shows as one half of "The Kingsmen-Professional Water Skiers" with his near life long friend Kent Williams of Virginia and often said that "the best job I ever had was skiing for hamburgers and hot dogs" alongside the campsites at Lake Ouachita. Aulton was preceded in his death by his parents, Mark and Vadis Ball, and was twice widowed (Vivian Carlene and Holly Seth). Aulton is survived by his brother, Michael L. Ball of Little Rock, three sons, Dennis (Dawn) Ball of Bigelow, Danny Ball of Copperas Cove, Texas, and James (Kryssi) Martin of Colorado. Aulton had 10 grandchildren. Aulton planned an immediate burial at Moss Creek Cemetery and wished for his friends and family to gather and fellowship at their convenience as they chose to do so. The Family would like to extend a grateful appreciation to his friends from the Little Rock Fire Department and those that he worked with at the Secretary of State's Office. He maintained his innumerable friendships over the decades and he leaves us with memories of a lifetime. Arrangements by Cornwell Funeral Home Danville, Arkansas.
