Huie Lindsey, 78, passed away Friday, August 2, 2013 at Embracing Hospice in Cumming, GA following an extended illness. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Sugar Hill United Methodist Church, 1621 Sugar Hill Road, Texarkana, Arkansas. Mr. Lindsey was born January 11, 1935 in Pine Bluff, Ark., the son of John Weldon Lindsey and Alma Pauline Huie Lindsey. He grew up in Camden, Ark. and graduated from Camden High in 1953, he went on to play football at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He later transferred and received a Bachelor's of Science degree from the University of Arkansas at Monticello and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Lindsey was married to Mary Cross of Camden in 1957. Mr. Lindsey followed his love of football as a high school football coach in Camden at Fairview High School, then Henderson, Texas and ended his coaching career in DeQueen, Ark. Mr. Lindsey entered the paper industry in 1968 as a Quality Manager at the Ashdown, Ark. mill built by Nekoosa Papers. Mr. Lindsey retired after 30 years at the Ashdown mill which was later acquired by Georgia Pacific. In 1995, Mr. Lindsey was recognized by GP for his outstanding service to the sales and marketing team and received the President's Award for his contributions. He was a member of Sugar Hill United Methodist Church in Texarkana, Ark. Survivors include his son, Blake Lindsey of Atlanta, Ga.; and his daughter, Laura Lindsey Ball of Hope, Ark. and four granddaughters, Erin Lindsey Moore of Athens, Ga., Alison Ball McQuain of Knoxville, Tenn., Katie Lindsey of Atlanta, Ga. and Camryn Lindsey of Atlanta, Ga. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Cross Lindsey.
