Our Dad is now walking the streets of gold with Jesus and the Saints. We take comfort that he is in a better place that has no sorrow, pain or death, but he will be missed in each of our hearts especially at our family gatherings. He is so loved by us, along with his many friends. Carl Wesley Sanders of North Little Rock was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, March 31, 1923 to Neal R. and Bessie Martin Sanders. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 71 years, Virginia A. Lovan Sanders. He is also survived by his children, Neal C. Sanders (Sandy), Nancy Sanders Dutton (Vernon) and Donald W. Sanders (Darin); his grandchildren, Angela Sanders Looney (Jason), Matthew Carl Sanders and Lori Hattan; and his sister-in-law, Dr. Margaret R. Downing, along with several nieces and nephews. Dad's work career spanned 38 years in the U.S. Postal Service where he retired in 1980 as District Director, Customer Service, Little Rock District. Dad was a faithful member of Park Hill Baptist Church for 42 years serving as a Deacon and teacher of the Sanders Sunday School class for 18 years before his illness. The service to celebrate his life will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Park Hill Baptist Church. A visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday before the service at the church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in White Hall. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Sanders Sunday School Class. The family would like to honor their Mother for her love and devotion in caring for Dad especially the last four years. We also want to give special thanks to Juanita Roberts and CeCe Hawkins who assisted our Mother in caring for Dad. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Park Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 201 East C Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116. Arrangements by North Little Rock Funeral Home, a Smith Family Funeral Home. Online obituary at www.SmithFamilyCares.com.
