John Wesley Bell, 54, of North Little Rock, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Baptist Springhill Hospital in North Little Rock, Ark.. John was born to the late Joseph Charles and Margaret Jones Bell on July 1, 1959. John is survived by his brother, Joe Bell of Appleton, Wis; Aunt Flossie and Uncle Boyd Hahn of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; Aunt Helen Hardesty of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who he deeply cared about. Having gone through some dark years in his life, John surrendered his life to the Lord, and was baptized into Christ on May 6, 2010. He received the Light of the world--becoming a reflection of that light to all who knew him. Much of John's life over the last several years has been consumed with connecting with his River City Church/Ministry family and working at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette newspaper. Those within this circle have witnessed his transformation. He has been an active member of River City Church in North Little Rock, Ark. since 2009 where he increasingly took on responsibilities. Affectionately known as Big (Good) John, he died while doing what he loved--honoring the Lord, while quietly serving people at River City Ministry, where he served as a full-time volunteer in a variety of capacities, most notably as an attendant at the front receiving desk. John also enjoyed his hobbies of fishing and camping. John will be deeply missed by all who truly knew him as he has moved on to his Eternal Home. A memorial service will be held for John at River City Church's building located at 620 Curtis Sykes Drive, North Little Rock, Ark. on Friday, August 16th at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions in John's honor to River City Ministry at P.O. Box 2179, North Little Rock, Ark. 72114. Arrangements are under the direction of Roller Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Ark. 72211.
