Woodrow T. Butler, 95, went to be with his Lord on August 21, 2013 and was reunited with his loving wife of 76 years, Mary Frances Butler, who preceded him in death in January 2013. He is now in the presence of his Lord celebrating a reunion with a host of family members and friends. He was born to the late Nancy Hall and Benjamin F. Butler Sr. August 27, 1917. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters: Elmer Butler, Vestal Butler, Marvin Butler, Basil Butler Sr., Benjamin F. Butler Jr., Vernon Butler, Rea VanMarion and Kathryn Walker. He is survived by a daughter, Anne Bradley (Ted) of Bryant; three grandchildren, Stephanie Rushing (Anthony) of Benton, Michelle Henson of Bryant, and Kevin Henson of Mansfield, Texas; and five great grandchildren: Cleburne, Julianna and Staunton Rushing of Benton, and Hannah and Brooke Henson of Mansfield, Texas; and many nephews and nieces. He loved the Lord and he loved people and was always willing to offer a helping hand to not only friends and family but to strangers. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and leaves a great legacy by the way he lived his life and the many ways he showed his love for others. It was common for him to stop to help a stranded motorist or pick up a soldier hitch-hiking home in the WWII days. He is well known for his sense of humor and practical joking; he loved to have fun. He loved sports and was an avid Razorback fan. He also enjoyed and faithfully attended the grandchildren's events---band concerts, ballgames, etc. He was a loyal member of Henderson United Methodist church for over 65 years and served as treasurer for many years and in other capacities as a Board member and on various committees. He treasured the many friends he made over the years at Henderson. He owned and operated a service station at 7th & Center in Little Rock most of his working years and had many friends through his relationships with customers. He always had a smile and never met a stranger. He has left us many wonderful memories and been a great example for his family. Words cannot express how much he will be missed. Visitation will be at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, Arkansas 72209 (501) 455-5800 on Friday, August 23, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at Henderson United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 24, at 10 a.m. officiated by Rev. Tom Frase. Pallbearers are Eddie Smith, Gus Biggers, Terry Fought, Marvin Butler, Jr., Cleburne Rushing and Danny Sullivan. Memorials may be made to Henderson United Methodist Church.
