Julius "Jay" Marinell

From Oakland, Calif., to the wilds of Alaska, to the top of the golden gate bridge and finally to central Arkansas, Julius "jay" Marinell relished the gratification gained from hard work. Born August 20, 1915 in Richmond, Calif., Jay passed from this life on August 29, 2013, two years shy of his 100th birthday. Jay will be remembered for remodeling houses, often with his daughter Beverly and her husband Elton, and spending countless hours building model boats, gluing the smallest pieces to finish intricate details. He was a union painter by trade, and took pleasure in helping and showing others his craft. In his last years, he took joy in building a model train village in his spare bedroom. Jay was preceded in death by his adored wife, Eura McFall Marinell. He leaves behind his stepchildren, all of whom he claimed as his own -- his kids, as he referred to them -- Beverly Payne, Shirley Western, Sue Ferguson, Sarah Smith and Ron Wallace. Also remembering Jay are loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great children, nieces and nephews -- both near and far, from Oklahoma to northern California, to Wyoming. Beverly is remembered for her loving care of Jay, honoring his wishes to be cared for, and to live his final years in his home in Judsonia that he shared with his wife. The family extends gratitude to the loving care given by caregivers Janet and Regina. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2013 from 1-2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home. A Celebration of Jay's life will follow the visitation, beginning at 2 p.m. with Guerry Moorer officiating. Interment will follow in the Carter Cemetery by Powell Funeral Home, Bald Knob-Judsonia. www.powellfuneralhome.net.
