Marian Beaver Pickett

Marian Beaver Pickett, age 86, of Camden, Arkansas passed away at her home on Monday, December 2, 2013. She was born on December 23, 1926 to the late Ruby Horace and Ollie Haddox Beaver in the Theo community of Ouachita County. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Winfred Pickett; her stepmother, Elsie Moore Beaver; and her two brothers, W.A. "Woody" Beaver and R.C. Beaver. For 40 years Marian was a dedicated employee of Sears, working for many of those years as the manager of the local catalog store in Camden. Her commitment to her work was evidenced by numerous awards received for both sales and superior management. Both her co-workers locally and her friends who were the managers of many other Sears stores in the region could attest to her commitment to being the best. Perhaps the only dedication that surpassed her work ethic was her dedication to her family. She missed what would have been her last day of work before her retirement in 1989 to be present for the birth of her granddaughter, Emily. Marian was a member of First United Methodist Church of Camden where she was a faithful member of the Al Rose Class. One of her other joys came from being one of several ladies who always saw that their Sunday School class was decorated with fresh flowers from their gardens each week. She was also an active member of the Maul Road Extension Homemakers Club for many years. She is survived by two daughters, Maribeth Wright and her husband, Rob of Camden and Rhonda Fowle of Mansura, Louisiana; two grandchildren, Jonathan Wright and his wife, Ashton of Lexington, Kentucky and Emily Wright of Camden; two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Beaver of Camden and Jo Beaver of Little Rock; three nephews; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish her memory. The family requests that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church building fund or the Ouachita County Medical Center Hospice. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church with burial in Holleman Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. To sign the online guest register visit www.proctorfuneralhome.com.
